For a Gentle, Long-lasting Flame in Complete Serenity

Each Ō’NOŌK candle is carefully crafted from 100% natural soy wax and features a cotton wick. To fully enjoy its enveloping warmth and extend its lifespan, a few simple steps are all it takes. Here are our tips for honoring the flame.

1. Trim the wick before each use

Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 6 mm (¼ inch). A well-trimmed wick helps to: ✔ Reduce smoke and soot
✔ Avoid large or unstable flames
✔ Promote even burning

💡 Tip: A wick trimmer is ideal for a clean cut, especially as the wax level lowers in the container.

2. Use a snuffer — or close the lid — rather than blowing it out

Blowing on a candle can create smoke, distort the wick, and splash hot wax. To preserve the purity of the air and the elegance of your ritual, use a snuffer or gently close the candle lid to extinguish the flame softly.

✔ Less residual smoke
✔ No splattering
✔ An intact wick for future use
✔ The smell of smoke is avoided, allowing the subtle fragrance of your candle to remain

3. Let the entire surface melt during the first use

The first lighting is crucial: let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the container (about 1 to 2 hours). This prevents tunneling, which can shorten the candle's life.

4. Respect burning sessions of 3 to 4 hours

For optimal burning, do not leave your candle lit for more than 4 hours at a time. Prolonged use can cause the wick to mushroom, leading to soot and uneven burning.

5. Keep your candle away from drafts

Air vents, open windows, or air conditioners can disturb the flame. Always place your candle in a calm, stable location for even burning.

6. Store your candles with care

When not in use, store your Ō’NOŌK™ candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct light. Close the lids to preserve the richness of their fragrance.

7. Stop using the candle when 1.5 cm (½ inch) of wax remains

For safety, do not burn the candle all the way down to the bottom. Excessive heat could weaken the container. It is recommended to extinguish the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.
